Dr. Ehtsham Haq is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Clinical Professor at the UAB School of Medicine, with a career spanning over two decades of executive clinical leadership, academic medicine, and community service. As Chief of Mental Health Services and Director of Telehealth at the Birmingham VA Healthcare System, he led one of the region's most complex psychiatric programs while simultaneously shaping the next generation of physicians through the VA-site Psychiatry Residency Program he founded and directed. A founding member of the Red Crescent Clinic of Alabama — a free clinic serving underserved communities — and the founder of the APPNA Alabama Chapter, Dr. Haq has consistently translated leadership into tangible impact at the local, regional, and national levels. His APPNA service spans over 20 years of volunteer roles including chairing international meetings, CME programming, strategy sessions, and healthcare advocacy initiatives, reflecting a sustained commitment to the Pakistani American physician community.
